Ray Rice offered some off-season advice to Joe Flacco to help the Ravens quarterback deal with the interim while his agent and club work on a new contract.
“Don’t get involved with it,” Rice said last week on the NFL Network (via baltimoreravens.com). “Don’t get personal with it. Just continue to do what you’ve always done. That’s why you have agents and other people that can handle that kind of stuff. The business side always takes care of itself. You just have to let everything iron itself out.”
Rice went through the same sort of thing last year until the running back reached a five-year, $40 million deal. Having established himself as a premier postseason QB, Flacco will get considerably more than Rice did. Not that Rice seems to mind the idea.
“This is a right-now league,” Rice said. “And right now what Joe Flacco has done, I believe he is the best quarterback playing. … This was Joe Flacco’s time where he led us to a Super Bowl. You always need a great quarterback to take you over the top, and he’s done it.”
